Felt and bronze
The clapper is honest against bronze, not against a thumbnail.
Every morning Piet zeros the clapper on a pad we keep in the loft. If the zero drifted, the belfry does not strike.
A thumbnail is a story. A pad is a number. Decay is written on the card in tenths of a second, toe and heel separate, because prairie wind does not eat a peal evenly.
We will let you hear the hush where the damper dropped. We will not show you a cartoon apex. If you need a cartoon apex, Old Town still sells those.
